Post-Tension Repair

Post-tensioned slabs hold a building up with steel cable under enormous tension. When water reaches a tendon, the cable corrodes inside its sheathing where nobody can see it, and the first visible sign is often a blown-out anchor at the slab edge. This is specialist work and it is not a place for a general patching crew.

Post-Tension Repair - ICS Project Group

What the repair involves

Locating and mapping tendons before any cutting, de-tensioning where required, splicing or replacing the strand, re-anchoring, re-stressing to the engineer's specified force, grouting, and restoring the slab edge and waterproofing over the top.

Why it cannot wait

A corroded tendon does not stabilise. It keeps losing section until it fails, and each failure shifts load onto the neighbouring tendons. Post-tension findings in a milestone or recertification report are the ones that should move to the front of the queue.

Licensed and permitted. Work is performed under Florida Certified General Contractor licence CGC #1540717, permitted and inspected.

Questions we get asked

Can you work from our engineer's tendon map?
Yes, and we prefer it. Where no map exists, tendons are located and marked before any saw touches the slab.
Is this the same crew as ordinary concrete repair?
The prep and finish overlap, the tensioning does not. De-tensioning and re-stressing are done to the engineer's specified force and documented.
